Oekologie means Ecology in Greek. This is a series of illustrations depicting Pacific Northwest fauna and flora.  These relationships and pairings of local ecology are based on personal observations. This series was inspired by Maria Sybilla Merian, who studied life cycle of butterflies and moths and the host plants. She was a first artist in 17th century who started to depict insects alongside botanical illustration. The study of ecology was born at that time. I enjoy depicting moths, butteries, hummingbirds and other small insect along the local flora.
